Spanakopita (spä-nə-ˈkō-pē-tə)

We did some double dipping this month. It started harmlessly. We were food shopping at Sahadi's, a legendary Middle Eastern market that is possibly one of my favorite places on Earth, and Jenson started fussing. So what happened next? One of their amazing staff came up like a ninja and was standing before us, silently holding a mini spanakopita in front of him. Jenson was no match for the siren call of the Spanakopita. He doesn't talk yet, but every time we cruise past Sahadi's I think he senses where the good stuff is. July is officially known as the Month of the Spanakopita.

Sometimes it takes a child to reconnect you with that joyous sensation of discovering something new for the first time.
